Best Blogging Equipment
Below are some of my favorite pieces of blogging equipment you can use to build your blog.
MacBook or Computer (Required)
The most obvious piece of equipment you'll need to run a blog or website is a computer or laptop of some sort.
My favorite is a MacBook because the interface is extremely user friendly and Apple products are extremely reliable.
A new MacBook can cost over $1,000 but you can sometimes find used options for less than $800.
As a blogger, you're going to be using your computer daily – so I consider this an investment in your business and have always opted for the nicer and newer equipment.
When browsing for a laptop or computer, there are a few things you'll want to consider.
- How much photo and video editing will I be doing?
- Do I need more internal storage or will cloud storage work?
- How long do I plan to keep the laptop?
By answering these questions, you can get a better idea on the right laptop or computer for your needs.
For example, if you are a professional photographer or run a YouTube channel in addition to your blog, there's a good chance you'll be doing some serious photo and video editing. These tasks will require a faster laptop that has more RAM.
I personally, love the MacBook Pro when it comes to the best laptop for blogging. It's a great computer that is fast, lightweight, reliable, and user-friendly.
What about a tablet?
Tablets like iPad's and other options are another option instead (or in addition) to a laptop.
I personally use both a laptop and iPad for my blogging tasks. I find it a bit cumbersome to only use a tablet to do my work, but it might not be an issue for some bloggers – especially if you get a keyboard to go alongside it.
There are plenty of options when it comes to laptops and computers, so compare a few to find one that works for you.
Having a cell phone is a requirement these days – but as a blogger, your phone can actually be a powerful tool.
Your phone can be used to take pictures and videos for your blog, help you stay connected with social media, and even serve as a portable office.
I recommend getting a smartphone with a good camera and plenty of storage if you plan on using it for your blog.
A cell phone is a piece of essential equipment for any blogger – so make sure you have a good one!

If you plan to create videos, be a guest on podcasts, or do any type of voice-over work for your blog, you'll need a good microphone.
A microphone can range in price from $30 – $200, depending on the quality and features you're looking for. It can help to reduce background noise and get clearer audio for your videos and audio recordings.
Some of the best microphones include:
- Rode NT-USB Microphone ($167)
- Logitech for Creators Blue Yeti USB Microphone ($129)
- Blue Yeti USB Microphone ($89)
There are many different microphones you can use for your blog – so find one that fits your needs and budget.
Mouse and Keyboard (Optional)
If you choose a desktop computer, or you're using a monitor with your laptop – having a mouse and keyboard can be very helpful.
I love mechanical keyboards (the ones that are extremely loud). I have a Keychron keyboard that I love. It's less than $100 – which isn't bad!
Computer Monitor (Optional)
Having a large computer monitor can be extremely helpful when blogging. This will allow you to see more of your work at once and make it easier on your eyes.
If you're running a photography blog or plan on using a lot of images, it's wise to purchase a DSLR camera.
I have a Canon EOS Rebel SL3 and love it. If you want to take great photos, investing in a high quality camera is a must.
Some of the best cameras can range in price from a few hundred dollars to several thousand so find one that fits your budget and needs.
Ring Light (Optional)
Depending on the type of blog you have, you might want to consider getting a ring light.
A ring light is a type of lighting that's perfect for taking pictures and videos.
It's often used by blogs that might require close up pictures because it creates a bright, even light.
A ring light is not required but can help to increase the quality of images on your blog without much money.
Camera Tripod (Optional)
If you have a digital camera, you might want to consider getting a tripod.
A tripod is a support device that helps to keep your camera steady while taking pictures or videos.
This is especially helpful if you're taking pictures of yourself or plan on doing a lot of vlogging.
Camera tripods can range in price from $20 to $200.
External Hard Drive (Optional)
If you're taking a lot of photos and videos, having an external hard drive to back up your data can be a helpful piece of blogging equipment.
External hard drives can store large amounts of data and are easy to transport if you need to take your data with you on the go.
They are extremely affordable and can keep your data accessible and safe.

I've found that it's best to give it a brief outline and guide its writing to ensure the best quality content.

This can be useful for determining things like:
